The Winning City Challenge
Ok, here is my Great idea to spice up the
Golden Snowball Contest! Right now the winning city receives a trophy and
a donation of $100.00. I say we up the ante a bit. Kind of like chef
Emeril Lagasse does with his cooking for the final touch. You know, the
BAM just to make it a bit more exciting, interesting and more spicy.
Here's the idea, I know enough with the typing already and get on with it.
My suggestion is we find a Sucker Person, preferably a
well known person from each city to volunteer to have their hair trimmed,
a haircut, a Buzzcut nope. How about
they have their head SHAVED. Yup, a head shaved so it looks like a
snowball .
Then perhaps a touch of Gold finger paint to make it look like a Golden Snowball
. Of course unlike the trophy for
the Golden Snowball contest which goes to the winning city for the year, we'll
let that slide. Pictures in the newspapers will be sufficient enough.
You can vote as to whether this is a good idea in our voting poll
HERE I'm not sure if this will even come together but lets give it a
shot. It should be fun.
What We Want From You
What you need to do is submit names who you would like to nominate to volunteer to have their head shaved if your city wins. We prefer it to be a local celebrity if possible such as a local TV Weatherman, a Journalist, the Mayor of Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton, Buffalo or Albany (Like the Albany Mayor would have to worry ) would be awesome and in my opinion should be the first to step up to the plate to volunteer. Lets add another twist to this Lets put a bounty on their head and raise a few dollars for where ever we decide to donate the money to this year. Yup, you can bid to be the one to shave the persons head of the winning city. Here's how that will work. You can bid just on the person who volunteers for your own city. An example would be that I am going to nominate journalist Sean Kirst and Mark Weir who both enjoy the Golden Snowball contest each year. Sean always writes a couple of Great articles about the contest (This year was exceptionally Great BTW ) and Mark writes the weather for the Post Standard and has all the stats and also writes articles about the golden snowball contest. My opening bid will be $25.00 to be the one to shave their head if the city of Syracuse wins. The person with the highest bid or bounty on their head that has volunteered will be the big winner (loser ). The same will apply to the highest bid on your city's volunteers if your city wins. Below is an example as to how it will be listed and updated.
Syracuse The Mayor - Bounty to Date = $25.00 - Winning Bidder so far - Patrick D. Dennis Brogan - Bounty to Date = $25.00 - Winning Bidder so far - Patrick D.
Binghamton The Mayor - Bounty to Date = $15.00 - Winning Bidder so far Matt R.
The above are just examples and nothing will be set to go until we have nominations and then they have to volunteer to do it. I suppose if there is enough of us we could hold em down and not worry about the volunteer crap. I'm joking of course
