I’ve been having trouble with my Keurig coffee maker for about a month now and was deciding whether to try and fix it or buy a new Keurig single cup brewer. One of the problems was that the de-scaling light was flashing which I came to find out that it meant it needed to be cleaned which was easy but do it after your done with your coffee for the day because it takes about 4 1/2 hours to clean it 😉 .  You will also find a few Keurig coffee makers to buy or purchase here.

The other problem was that it slowly started giving me less and less coffee every time I used it lately. I was finally down to only getting about a third of a cup on the highest setting. When I took the top off the reservoir I could see that the water would be sucked up through the pump and heated up but then it was just being pumped back into the water holder. Obviously the reason for me not getting a full cup of coffee.

I was hoping to not have to buy a new one because after all, the Keurig k-cup brewers aren’t the cheapest ones around. Not cheap but they are one of the best tasting coffee makers in my opinion if not the best. That plus you also have a zillion types of flavors of k cup coffee to choose from.

To make a long story short, OK, you all know me and you know I can’t make a story short but read on because I did end of fixing a couple of problems with my Keurig coffee maker that I thought would never happen and it was easy too. I mentioned on my FB page that I was having trouble with it and a friend said that he bet that he could tell me how to fix it so I gave it a try.

I had to fix the main problem first because it would have taken too long to clean it first seeing how I was only getting about a third of a cup of coffee. He showed me a video that was online about how you should clean the needle that pokes the hole in the kcup and that the water goes through. I actually tried what the video said to do a couple of weeks ago but I didn’t do it quite right. Go Figure 🙁 The first time I took a paper clip and poked it through the hole in the needle but didn’t poke it through far enough. That and I didn’t realize that there are to holes where the water comes out of. BE CAREFUL BECAUSE THE NEEDLE IS SHARP!

Problem 1) Here is how I fixed the problem of not getting a full cup of coffee with the Keurig coffee maker – I took a paper clip and unbent it enough so I had about 2 inches that was straight. I then attempted to find the holes before I finally smartened up and went and got my reading glasses so I could actually see what the hell I was doing 😉 . I took the paper clip and slipped it into the first slot on the needle and put it in until it couldn’t go any further. Don’t be afraid to poke it in there pretty good. Then I continued to move it all around in a circular motion while also pushing the paper clip in and out for about a minute or so. After I did the best I could with the first slot in the needle I did the same with the second one. Yeah the one that I didn’t even know was there the first time I tried this.

When I was done working on the Keurig’s needle slots I hit the button as I would to make a cup of coffee without the k cup in it of course. The first time I ran the water through I didn’t get quite a full cup but I did get more than I was getting along with a ton of coffee grounds. I repeated running doing a cycle of just water and got the full cup that I was hoping for but there were still some coffee grounds in it. It was now not only giving me the amount that it should be but it was also brewing and pouring faster than it has in a long time. Conclusion was my Keurig coffee maker was fixed and working right again 🙂 Unfortunately the de-scaling light was still flashing.

Problem 2) Here is how a video online told me how to de-scale the Keurig coffee brewer – Get yourself some white vinegar, enough to fill the reservoir where you put the water in. Empty whatever water may be in there and fill the reservoir with the white vinegar. If you have you coffee maker set to turn off power automatically after a certain amount of time you want to change that so that it will stay on at least four hours. This is important from what the video said.

Now without having any k cups in brewer hit the button to make a cup of coffee like you normally would do. Don’t forget to make sure you have a cup under there first 😉 Yeah, like that has never happened before huh 😉 Then empty the cup of vinegar and keep repeating it until it tells you that you need to add more water. STOP THOUGH! Don’t add any water yet! You need to let the coffee maker sit for 4 hours while it is still on.

Once the 4 hours are up dump any of the vinegar that is left in the water holder and fill it up with water. Run as many cycles as it takes like you were making a cup of coffee until the water is all used in the reservoir. Hopefully now you have cleaned you Keurig coffee maker good enough so that the de-scale light isn’t flashing any more 🙂

I for whatever reason you couldn’t fix it or are looking to buy a new Keurig coffee maker you can check out the ones we have here that are from Walmart and sold online. As I’m going through my house that is up for sale I came across a really nice wooden Molson Canadian beer cooler that I have had for awhile now. I was looking around online and only came across one that was Molson’s. There were a few other brands on the same cooler which I believe were made for store displays. If interested you can either get in touch with me on the contact page above or give me a ring at 315-656-9703. This is pick up only and it’s in the Minoa/Fremont area just outside of East Syracuse.

I have never used it so I can’t really tell you how it holds ice. It is built solid and it isn’t light. In other words it’s not a cooler that I would bring to the beach or to parties. It’s kind of heavy empty so I can imagine how heavy it would be with a case of Molson’s and a bag or two of ice. It is an awesome display that you would use though at your house where you don’t have to drag it around 😉

I really like it and this Molson Wooden Cooler is in really good shape but I decided to get rid of it to make more room here and to make the move easier when the house sells. Plus for some reason my Budweiser’s just don’t seem to go great with the cooler 😉

Click Here If you are looking for a nice 3 bedroom house in the East Syracuse Minoa school district you can check the house at Craigslist which also has a few pictures along with contact info.

I figured I would list it on here in case the Golden Snowball site has some Molson beer drinkers who may be interested in the collectible wooden cooler 🙂 Asking price is $85.00 which is a good price considering the other coolers were selling for $159.00. Oh it get’s better though as always. Tell me you’re a Golden Snowball fan and I’ll drop the price to $65.00. That’s the best offer I have gotten so far and our visitors here always get bumped to the front of the line 😉 You can Click Here to Check out the Collectible Molson Wooden Beer Cooler that I listed on Craigslist. Don’t forget this is pick-up only in the Fremont/Minoa Area.

Have a Great Week All 🙂

If you order you personal checks through your bank you may want to try ordering them online and save. I figure while we are on downtime from the snow and right now in a heat wave I would make some shameless plugs for my shopping sites. This site you will find some good deals on both personal checks and business checks and forms that you may need for your business.

One of the check companies that we deal with has a pretty good special going on for personal checks. If you visit my check site go to the bottom of the page and you will see a link for 4checks .com. You will also see a coupon for first time buyers to their site. The coupon will save you quite a bit off of 2 boxes of personal checks. If you don’t add any extras you should get 2 boxes of checks for around $10.00 to $14.00. Unless you get free checks from your bank you should save at least 60% with this special.

Click Here for Personal Checks and Business Checks

If your looking to order business checks or forms then use the link at the top of the page. I believe that will automatically set the coupon code for you. If not the code is on my check site at the top. You should get up to 50% off your orders of business checks. So the bottom for personal checks and the top for business forms and checks and make sure you use the coupon codes. You will also find a ton of themes for your bank checks. An example is that if you type Syracuse in the search box you will come up with some cool checks that have the Syracuse Orange logo on them along with pictures of the dome and Otto 😉 These are the ones I order online through my site. Just click the link below and thanks 🙂

Normally I leave the comments sections open for the summer and keep an eye on them.  Most of them are spam and come September, October I find myself having to spend a couple hours going through them and getting rid of most of them 🙁

Anyways, right now I’m getting hammered by them so I’m going to cut off comments for awhile.  I’m talking about 2000 a day right now and growing.  Isn’t worth trying to block the IP’s because they are always different.

If you do need to get a hold of me for any reason feel free to by using the contact form.  Sorry about any inconvenience and have a fun, sunny summer all 🙂

Congratulations Syracuse!!!  It seems like just yesterday that most people were dreading winter and the snow season and now here we are wrapping up the Golden Snowball Contest as we always do on May 1st.  Now we have a whole month or two of warm weather ahead of us before we start thinking about the snow again 🙂  OK, let’s hope it’s more like 5 – 7 months ahead of us before the word snow is even mentioned.

Last seasons champs Rochester stayed in reach of Syracuse for most of the season but Syracuse was able to get some late season snowfall including 12 inches in April to pull away at the end.  As for how far off the Golden Snowball cities were from their normal averages I would have to say that this was once again a pretty lame season.  Not as bad as last seasons lack of snowfall but when Albany is the city who came closest to their average snow totals you no it was a below average season.

Below are some stats showing the difference between this seasons snowfall and the normal average for all of the GSB cities.  That is providing it doesn’t snow any more 😉  Buffalo’s snow the last couple of seasons definitely has me scratching my head.  36.7 inches last season and only 58.8 inches this season to date 🙁

Albany – 7.7 inches below normal snow totals.
Syracuse – 8.4 below
Binghamton – 14.3 below
Rochester – 21.4 below
Buffalo – 35.9 below

Last but not least to wrap this season up a quick Thanks to Stephen Ellis who helps out at both goldensnowball.com and the national snow site goldensnowglobe.com.  This season Stephen came up with an idea that he borrowed (Stole, shhh) from the weather channel called Fantasy Snowfall.  We gave it a test run this season and hopefully next season we can bring in some more people to make it more fun.  Stephen kicked my butt most likely, always making a big comeback at the end of each month 😉

Thanks to all of you who visit the site and also to all of you who posted comments through the season to make it an even more fun contest to pass the winter by.  This season the Golden Snowball website had well over 100,000 visits.  As always, visits from both snow lovers and snow haters 😉  A big thanks to those of you who were able to donate to the site to help offset some of the out of pocket expenses running the site.  It really does help out a lot 🙂

A Big Thanks to the journalists from some of the Golden Snowball cities who always have some fun with the contest throughout the season. One that comes to mind is Sean Kirst from the Post standard and Syracuse.com who has always written some informative and fun articles about the GSB snow contest.  The main reason our fun snow contest has grown big enough to get some national media exposure.

I’m sure our great Mayor of Syracuse, Stephanie Miner will be more than happy to hear that Syracuse has won once again 🙂  Hey with the lack of snow this season all of the Mayor’s I’m sure are happy for the money they must have saved on their DPW budgets 😉

Congrats again to Syracuse and don’t forget that the National Snow Contest still lives on for a little longer.  I’m hoping to call the Golden Snow Globe Contest in a couple of weeks if the snow has finally stopped falling in most of the states.

Have a Super Awesome Summer Everyone 🙂

First Off – Thank You Susan R. for your donation to the website.  It’s appreciated and helps a lot 🙂
————————————————-

Syracuse added quite a few snowflakes to their lead over 2nd place Rochester and also set a date record for Tuesday, 4/2/13.  Syracuse picked up 10.5 inches of snow yesterday breaking the old date record of 1.4 inches back in 1991.  Syracuse also has a shot at breaking their all time snow total record for the month of April which is 16.4 inches back in 1983 if it continues for a day or two.  I think if they don’t break it by tonight I’m just about ready to say no problem, let’s move onto Spring.

Sean Kirst, journalist for the Post Standard and Syracuse.com put out a good article about this last late season snowfall in Syracuse and also how it helped them overtake Worcester, MA and Erie, PA in the national snow contest.  Check out Sean’s article at here at Syracuse.com.

For some reason I’m starting be one of the most hated person on my facebook page.  I’m talking my page that is all family and friends.  Every time it snow I get posts like cut the crap Pat, enough already Pat, You better not do another snow dance, and a bunch of other posts on my facebook page and this is family also.  It’s like my snow dances really have an effect on the weather 😉  OK, they really do and I did do one that ticked a bunch of people off but now that Syracuse has the lead in both the Golden Snowball Contest and the National Golden Snow Globe Contest I can finally do a Spring dance.  Who knows, maybe I’ll do a spring ballet dance just to prove that I really am a team player.  Nah, that isn’t happening 😉

My neighbor across the street even called and said enough.  She mentioned that I was or the snow was going to kill all of her flowers that just started to spring up.  I told her just let us get ahead of Worcester, Mass and that will be the end of me wishing for more snow.  Plus I told her that her flowers will be fine, that they are New Yorkers and they can handle it.  We all made it through another winter/spring in New York and I suppose even I have to say that it’s time to move on to our Spring season.  What’s left of it anyways 😉

Have a SUPER SNOWLESS Week Everyone 🙂
