One of the reasons I like the beginning of the snow season is that there is a lot of pushing going on at the top of the snow hill.  None of the cities have built up a big enough lead this early so back and forth it goes.  Normally until a decent storm hits one or two of the cities to give them a little fluffy snow cushion 🙂

Binghamton has regained the lead from Syracuse who was able to hold onto it for just a day or two.  Let’s see if Bingo can hold on to it for awhile this time. So far it seems like the the normal is happening with the snow staying to the north of Syracuse and to the south

FREE TRAINING CLASSES

This is a class I took last season when they came around here and it was well worth it and very informative to say the least 😉

If you or somebody that you know would be interested in becoming a volunteer weather spotter for us by reporting snowfall observations, this is your chance. We have upcoming classes, and plenty of free seats still available, November 29th in Wilkes-Barre, PA, December 6th in Oneonta, NY, and December 19th in Cortland, NY. If these are not close to you or if you are busy on the dates listed, consider signing up for our online class December 7th which still has room in it. To find more information on how to register check out the events section on this Facebook page. You can find the same information on their website below:

Syracuse takes the lead for the first time this season in the Golden Snowball contest sneaking past Binghamton.  Buffalo gets on the snow board earlier than last season.  I just went back and looked at the snow stats from last season and was pretty surprised at what I saw.

This is the first time that Syracuse had been in the lead in the GSB contest since around February 12th of last season.  Rochester regained the lead the next day and never looked back.  WTG Rochester on shutting down Da’Cuse machine 😉

Looking back at the start of last season we are pretty much following the pattern give or take a little in all of the cities.  Albany is down over 5 inches from this time last year but the rest of us are within a couple of inches.  It’s also hard to believe that this time last season Buffalo was only showing a trace of snowfall.  I’m looking forward to seeing how this season goes and for some reason Buffalo is in the back of my mind.  Could it be their turn?  Only Mother Nature knows 😉

Have an awesome week all….

UPDATED – I just heard from our national weather service and it looks like Syracuse picked up only 3 tenths of an inch so far this season.  Let’s see how the overnight

The snow stats have just been updated but as of around 5PM Syracuse hasn’t reported their totals yet for the day. There is a good chance the lineup may change come the next updated later this evening come the next update.  I was surprised that Buffalo was just showing a trace still thinking that the band that went to the south of them this morning must have dropped some measurable snowfall.  We’ll see how it all turns out come tomorrow.

Here in the Syracuse area it’s been pretty blustery most of the day.  Snowflakes have been falling off and on most of the day but so far other than this morning not much to talk about as far as snow totals go.  For myself, today has seemd the coldest day so far this season mainly because the temps are low and the wind has been blowing pretty good.

If I’m around later I’ll try to update the stats again to see how all of the cities stand on our snow mountain.  I have a feeling that Binghamton is going to stay on top but after that it should be interesting 😉

Have a Super Night All and watch out for some black ice tonight.  See Snow – Drive Slow

OK, yes this is one my few shameless plugs in order to sell a few 2013 calendars.  I figure before all snow breaks out I’ll get some plugs in on my shopping sites.  Hey, this site is more for fun than to make money but I still have to eat every now and then 🙂  In reality I should probably not be eating and on a diet but we won’t go there 🙁  Anyways if you’re looking for 2013 calendars we have them including the farmers almanac calendars for 2013.

We have over 4000 monthly, page a day calendar, yearly and any other calendars for 2013..  There are quite a few dog calendars and cats including puppy and kitten calendars.  Lots of landscape calendars for 2013 along with children’s, horses and pretty much any theme you can think of.  So if you need a new calendar for the new year feel free to check out the site. We also have 2013 daily planners, organizers and desk and wall calendars with snow, woo hoo ;).

It’s 2013 wall Calendars and the merchant I use has free shipping specials for a limited time.  Thanks all! Oh, and feel free to share the calendar site with your family and friends.  If I sell 100,000 calendars I get a free one.  I’m joking of course about the free one 🙂

Binghamton was the first to report measurable snowfall this season starting out with just a couple of tenths of an inch of snow.  They are the only Golden Snowball city to have a couple of snowfalls this seson also.

Right now we have 3 of the 5 cities reporting snow which include Bingo, defending champs Rochester and Albany.  Yup Albany is ahead of Buffalo and Syracuse so far this season.  For some reason my fingers seem to stutter while typing the 3 words defending champs Rochester 🙂  I don’t know if it’s because up until last season the only winner since I started up the website was Syracuse or if it’s because I’m from Syracuse and I’m heart broken that the trophy most likely will be leaving the city of Syracuse very soon.  Most likely the second reason 😉

Some way, some how we will have to come up with a fun idea as to how the trophy should be handed over to the Mayor of Rochester.  More to come on that and you all will be the first to know.  We will also be posting our winter outlook forecasts pretty soon.  You know the unofficial ones that include the color of my mustach, caterpillars and so on so stay tuned for that.  I haven’t talked to Steven but if he is around this season I’m sure he has something up his coat sleeve too 🙂

Have an awesome week all.
