What’s going on? Here we all are less than 10 days from winter in cny/upstate NY and the grass is as green as it could be. The temperature is suppose to be in the 50’s again today. Only 11 days until Christmas and the big question is will we have a white Christmas? Steve form Buffalo – aka smadsen in the forum is predicting an 80% chance of a White Christmas which sounds pretty good to me. Enjoy the nice weather while it’s here because a cold front might be moving in the beginning of next week.
I don’t know about the rest of you but Christmas just isn’t the same without snow on the ground. I couldn’t imagine living in Florida and celebrating the winter holiday season in 70 degree weather. A buddy of mine who has lived down south for the last 20 or so years even says Christmas isn’t the same as when he was growing up here on the north east. All we can do is to hope the Snow God shines upon us leaving a nice blanket of snowfall just in time for Santa Claus to make his rounds.
And they said on Weather World tonight that it looks like that it’s not really going to get cold until after Christmas. White Christmas? No. Is it even going to feel like Christmas? Doesn’t look like it.
I think next week would be a perfect time to use up one of your two snowdance nights. Make sure you get a video this time to share with the rest of us!
Well right now the sky is blue right above our house and it’s sprinkling outside. Hmmm, a sun shower on December 15th just doesn’t seem right.
Summer_41, I’m still counting on a white Christmas here even if I have to do my stupid looking snow dance to make it happen 😉
It is 4:50am and it is 47* in Binghamton.
I have since update my white x-mas probabilities to the following:
Albany: 10%
Binghamton: 10%
Buffalo: 25%
Rochester: 25%
Syracuse: 40%
And to reiterate what wxman posted:
At 12:30am in mid decemember it is 55 degrees in Buffalo, a good 20 – 30 degrees above normal. This is absoulty insane!
It’s 1:55 PM on December 14. And it’s 60 freaking degrees outside! That’s not too cool (literally and figuratively).
This will be my third year in a row without a white Christmas. The first year was interesting, last year was numbing, and this year I am going out of my mind. Believe me, I feel your pain. 😉 -Summer_of_41
