All of the cities including our state capital picked up a little bit of snow yesterday. Yup, Albany even picked up 2.2 inches of the white fluffy stuff. Binghamton better get moving because it would be pretty embarrassing to be at the bottom under Albany at the end of the season. Bingo did manage to pick up 2.3 inches yesterday though and won the round for a change. Rochester surprisingly was the loser yesterday picking up just 1 inch. Buffalo grabbed 1.4 and Syracuse added another 2.1 inches of new snow.
Looking at the radars all of the snow is hanging up north so most likely not a lot of anything going on for any of the Golden Snowball cities most of the day. Of course we know how the weather can change rather quickly in NY so keep an eye on it.
snowballman, you asked awhile back why pick Camillus and not another town near Syracuse to measure the snowfall for Syracuse?
http://www.erh.noaa.gov/bgm/spotters_skywarn/snow_final0506.html
This website shows Camillus had only 59 inches in one location and 75 inches in another location. Meanwhile the Syracuse airport had close to 140 inches of snow in the same year.
So yes, Camillus would be a good location to measure snowfall in Syracuse if you looking to get the lowest annual snowfall in Onondaga County.
It’s amazes me how the Syracuse Airport location is in the perfect spot in Onondaga County to get the most snow. Most other parts of Onondaga County don’t get nearly as much snow as at the Syracuse Airport.
