CONGRATS BUFFALO, NEW YORK
2021-2022 SNOW CHAMPS IN THE
NY GOLDEN SNOWBALL SNOW CONTEST!!! πŸ™‚

Congrats Buffalo, New York on unofficially winning the NY Golden Snowball virtual trophy πŸ™‚ Remember, the snow season goes on until the last second of July 30th. So nothing is official until The National Weather Service posts the final snow totals. Unless some really crazy weather happens (It Won’t) Buffalo will be the official winner. I’ll try and do an end-of-the-season summery in the next day or two.

All Buffalo, NY had to do this season was to be close to their yearly average at the end of the season to win, and they were. Buffalo was the only city out of the 5 to hit their normal season snow totals πŸ™

I would have felt calling it a week or so ago like some others did but the snow was still in the forecast and let’s face it, this snow season has been a crazy rollercoaster of temperatures and snow. The weather is still riding the rollercoaster it looks like but the temps should be a little too warm for much snow. JMO πŸ™‚

Meanwhile, check out the Awesome graph below thatΒ Jim Kulak made for the contest and let us use it. It pretty much sums up the snow season for Buffalo, Rochester, Binghamton, Syracuse and Albany. Check it out!Β  Thanks, Jim, I appreciate it πŸ™‚

The snow stats below show how much snow on average each city receives between May 1st and June 30th. It also shows the most snow between May and June for each city. Nothing is impossible but it will take record snow for Rochester or any other city at this time to pass Buffalo.

Most Snow and Average Snow for May Thru June (National Weather Service)

Rochester
Highest – 10.9 inches.
Noraml – 0.1

Buffalo –
Highest – 7.9
Normal – 0.0

Binghamton –

Syracuse –
Highesr – 5.0

I’ll be adding to this post as the days go by and I will be adding any new snow that may fall to the city totals.Β  If you enjoyed the snow site and the time that goes into keeping it up to date, Please click on the donate buttons to make a donation to the site.Β  They Help A LOT!!!Β  Β You don’t have to join Pay Pal and they do accept most credit cards.Β  Thanks in advance and it’s been a Fun snow season.Β  A little boring as far as the amount of snow this season but still Fun.

Which Golden Snowball City Gets The Most Rainfall

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that the Golden Snowball contest will start keeping track of the total rainfall that the cities get. I’ve always been curious as to how the cities in the Golden Snowball contest stack up when it come to rain. The rain totals posted here for Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse, New York are the yearly totals so far for 2015.

This should be a fun contest because I doubt that Syracuse will be the favorite like they are in the snow contest. Right now Binghamton is at the top of the Puddle with 26.03 inches of rainfall on the year. Albany is in last place, go figure so it looks like Albany will just carry over from the snow race πŸ˜‰ I really don’t have a clue as to which city is the favorite other than by going by what the average rain to date is. That shows that most of the cities are pretty close to each other so it should be interesting. We all know what one good thunderstorm can drop so I am guessing the rain contest will probably have several lead changes like the snow contest does.

I am also keeping track of which city records the hottest day for the year, 2015. Rochester has bragging rights to having the highest temperature so far for 2015 which is 92 degrees. The high temp contest should be fun also and it’s starting to look like summer is finally making an appearance this week πŸ˜‰

Any thoughts or as always any suggestions feel free to post them here or get a hold of me through the contact page. This is all new to me so bear with me as I try to get this up and running. You can check out the cities 2015 rainfall totals here!

Have an Awesome Day Everyone πŸ˜‰

First off as always I want to give a Big Thanks to Edwin T. for your recent donation to the site. I know I say this over and over again, but it really does help me out a lot. Thank You for taking the time Edwin, I truly appreciate it πŸ™‚

OK, hold off on the betting this is all just for fun. The next couple of days look like it will be kind of quiet for most of the cities so as the snow season is winding down let’s lay some odds for which city will win the 2014-2015 Golden Snowball Contest. Hours of research and handicapping went into laying out the odds so I would take them very seriously when betting with your family and friends. OK, no thinking at all went into the odds and it’s all just for fun πŸ˜‰

Mother Nature is the only one that knows how much snow lies ahead for all of the Golden Snowball cities, but I feel pretty confident in saying that Albany and probably Binghamton are out of the running now. I know that the NY area still gets snow in April and even sometimes into May, but I don’t see Binghamton making up 30+ inches and I definitely can’t see Albany getting 40+ more inches of snow this season.

I think Rochester still has a shot but only if they start melting away some of Syracuse’s and Buffalo’s snow this week. You may also want to talk to the Snow God πŸ˜‰ Buffalo still has a decent shot, but the good folks in Buffalo may want to do a snow dance or two πŸ˜‰ OK, enough already and here are what I believe the odds are as of today, March 24th.

Syracuse – Current Odds — 2 to 1
Buffalo — Current Odds — 4 to 1
Rochester – Current Odds 15 to 1
Binghamton – Current Odds 50 to 1
Albany – Current Odds — Scratched

All in fun and it will be interesting to see if the odds change in the coming weeks ahead. Have an Awesome Day Everyone πŸ™‚
