First off, way to go to the Syracuse basketball team taking on UNC earlier and pulling off another victory. SU is still undefeated and ranked number 10 in the country. They had no problem today controlling UNC most of the game other than the very beginning. Wouldn’t it really be a shame if Arizona lost tomorrow?ย  AZ is currently ranked number 1 in the country and of course a loss would most likely put Syracuse in the number 1 spot. Hey, if we can’t do it here in the Golden Snowball contest we may as well do it in basketball ๐Ÿ˜‰ Congrats SU and keep the streak going!

Oh yeah, snow. All of the cities had some snow to report since the last update and Binghamton added enough snow to slip past Rochester to take over the number 3 spot on the snow mountain. Binghamton has been hanging with the big 3 all season moving up and down on the snow hill. I’m sure Rochester will get things going sometime soon though and the question is which city will be the one to give Buffalo a run for their money?

Buffalo did close in on Erie, PA in the National snow contest and moved up to the number 2 spot on the snow mountain the last time I updated that site. I may get a top 10 update in tonight on the snowiest big city website if nothing comes up.

As much as I hate to see rain I have to admit that I didn’t mind the 50 degree weather today ๐Ÿ™‚ Have an Awesome Weekend All..

Buffalo keeps piling on the snow and now has a pretty decent lead over the rest of the Golden Snowball cities. Buffalo has almost a foot of snow more than Syracuse who is currently in second place in the snow contest.

I think the big news is that as of yesterday 1/8/14 Buffalo has had more snow this early in the season than ALL of last season. Buffalos”(?) current snow total as of yesterday is 62.9 inches. Buffalo only received 58.8 inches of snow for the entire 2012-2013 snow season. WTG Buffalo ๐Ÿ˜‰

Buffalo also set a date record with 7.6 inches of snowfall beating the old record of 6.6 inches dating all the way back to 1942. If my math is correct and don’t forget it normally isn’t, so far Buffalo has a 3 day total 17.6 inches. Jeesh, isn’t Lake Erie frozen over yet?

I don’t think the rest of us have to worry just yet because we still have about 3 more months of snow left. In other words it is still just the beginning of our snowy season and we all know from past years that one good storm changes everything.

Have a Great Day All ๐Ÿ˜‰

Buffalo has taken the lead in the Golden Snowball contest and did it in style picking up 7 inches of snowfall.ย  I was hearing about the blizzard warnings that were issued for the Buffalo area and was wondering what the new totals would be.ย  Way to go Buffalo and keep it going or is that keep it snowing ๐Ÿ˜‰

Buffalo is now only 3.6 inches away from having more snow so far this season than all of last season which was 58.8 inches.

Buffalo’s 7 inches of snow yesterday just missed setting a date record which is 7.3 inches set back in 1963.ย  I was reading about the high winds, blizzard conditions and the highway being closed by the governor so no doubt it had to have been pretty nasty to the west,ย  The same is going on and has been to the north of Syracuse,

The chances are that Buffalo will most likely move up in the National Snow contest also.ย  Depending on what Grand Rapids has to report Buffalo may move into second place in that snow contest.ย  Give me a little bit of time and I’ll get a top 10 update done at the National Snow Contest the Golden Snow Globe site.

Have an Awesome Day All ๐Ÿ™‚

Buffalo has once again moved into the second place slot on the Golden Snowball snow hill.ย  I’m really liking that Buffalo has decided to join in on the snowball fight this season with the rest of the GSB cities.ย  Syracuse still holds onto the top spot on the snow hill but they (I know, not a person – Sorry Teacher David, I am reading your emails though and learning ๐Ÿ˜‰ย ) better not get too comfortable up there because I don’t think it will last too much longer.

Buffalo is also closing in on their snow totals for all of last season (2012-2013) which was only 58.8 inches of snow.ย  Buffalo only needs a little more than 10 inches to surpass last seasons totals.ย  Go Buffalo!!!

All of the Golden Snowball cities are ahead of last seasons snow totals for this time in the season and all of the cities are also ahead of their average snowfall for this time in the season.ย  Syracuse is barely ahead though while the rest of the cities are crushing their normal.ย  Albany has even showed up for the snowball fight this season and is just a coastal storm or two away from taking the top spot.

I’m also loving how close the contest still is now that we are into January.ย  Less than 6 inches of snow separates four of the cities which are Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester and Binghamton.ย  Keep an eye on Binghamton because they seem to be picking up snow just about every time any of the other cities get snow.ย  Stay Tuned and Stay Warm.

Have a Great Day Everyone ๐Ÿ™‚

First off a big Thanks to Brian N for your donation to the site.ย  It means a lot and helps out a lot also.ย  Thanks Brian ๐Ÿ™‚

It was Buffalo by a flake a couple of days ago then Rochester slipped past them for the lead and as of now it’s Syracuse on top of the snow hill.ย  WTG Syracuse ๐Ÿ™‚

What is really standing out right now other than all of the lead changes and how close the snow contest is so far is Albany.ย  Look at Albany’s totals so far for the season, about double their normal snow totals for this time of year and more than 16 inches above what they had last season at this time.ย  No doubt it would be a shocker if Albany ever won the contest ๐Ÿ˜‰

It’s been snowing off and on here in the Syracuse area so there will be more snow to add to their totals.ย  Is any of the other cities getting snow?

Have a Great Day All – See Snow, Drive Slow ๐Ÿ˜‰

Rochester picked up 3.7 inches of snow yesterday which was enough for them to slip past Syracuse for the top spot on the snow hill.ย  Way to go Rochester ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Snow is in the air and will be for at least the next couple of days so the snow contest will get interesting.

All of the Golden Snowball cities except for Syracuse received measurable snowfall yesterday including Albany which had 0,6 inches of new snow.ย  Buffalo got 1.1 inchesย but Binghamton grabbed 1.7 inches of snow yesterday which was enough to keep them just ahead of Buffalo on the snow hill.ย  Just a trace for Syracuse.

With the Lake Effect Machine already cranked up and dumping a lot of snow to the North it should be a good snowball fight this week between the GSB cities for the top spot.ย  I’ll be posting the snow stats as they come in from the National Weather Service and as always, See Snow, Drive Slow!

Have a Great Day All ๐Ÿ˜‰
