Syracuse was the king snowman yesterday so far picking up 4.5 inches of the white fluffy stuff yesterday.  At least I hope it is fluffy and not wet heavy snow because I haven’t shoveled yet.  Syracuse tied the date record of 4.5 inches going back to 1981.  Albany finally got a peak at some snow picking up 0.4 inches.

Like a little kid I get all excited with the first decent snowfall of the season and went for a ride in the middle of a decent snow band that was hitting.  The roads were slick with a few whiteouts from the windy lake effect snow band.  I guess that it what makes LES so cool.  The way the wind really picks up and how much snow can fall in a short amount of time when the snow band sets up over your house 🙂  Of course I say I am like a little kid the first snowfall but I’m really like a little kid every time a storm or good lake effect snow hits.  OK, maybe not so much so come around March when the shoveling starts getting a bit old.

I stayed up until around 2:30 this morning waiting for the new snow totals to come out from NOAA for Buffalo, Rochester and Albany so I would have a nice update this morning for you all buttttt.  When the stats came out for those 3 cities all I saw was MM which means that they were missing the data.  Wasn’t too happy about that of course and I wasn’t staying up until the 5am update, sorry about that.  Then again overall NOAA is awesome with all of the information and stats they collect and post so I’ll stop my whining 😉

The new totals include the snow from yesterday so they will be changing as the snow stats come in today and later tonight.  I should be able to get at least one more update in later and we will see if all of the cities have more to add.  My guess is they will.

Enjoy your Sunday All and Drive Safe!

Nothing new to report other than so far we are all having a below average sissy kind of snow season.  Binghamton continues to lead the Golden Snowball contest and Albany continues to trail the rest of the pack.

All of the cities have less snow than normal for this time of the season but all of the cities other than Albany also have more snow than last season at this time so far.  So you ask me what does all of this mean?  I tell you I don’t have a clue what it all means 🙂  I do believe however that it is going to be a cold snowy 2013 – 2014 season or for most of it anyways.  Here is the difference between the normal snowfall for this time of the year and what we all have so far.

Albany – – Minus 0.9 inches

Binghamton – Minus 1.2 inches

Buffalo – Minus 3.3 inches

Rochester – Minus 1.0 inches of snow

Syracuse – Minus 3.3 inches

So in other words for you snow haters out there, enjoy the wimpy 2013 – 2014 snow season that we have had so far.  Father Winter is just taking it easy and planning out what he has in store for us down the snowy road 😉

Have an awesome day all 🙂

First off a Big Thanks to Melissa W. for your donation to the website.  Thanks Melissa, I really do appreciate it 🙂

OK, nothing like a nice spring shower, of snow that is.  OK, maybe more like some Spring lake effect snow to put Syracuse over the 100 inch mark.  All Syracuse needs now and most likely that fell during the overnight is another inch give or take to double last seasons wimpy snowfall totals.  It’s hard to believe that they still may hit their seasonal average of 123 inches.

I got woken up this morning from Steve in Rochester who was curious as to what Rochester’s snow totals were as of today.  Thanks for the wake up call Steve 🙁  I’m joking, it was time to get up and get to work anyways.  I guess he has a dinner bet going with a friend based on what the snow totals for Rochester end up being today.  Unless The Rock got 4.5 inches overnight it looks like his wallet will be a little lighter come the end of the night 😉  Good Luck!

I think I finally figured a way to make a few bucks off our snow site.  Come the end of the season, whenever that may be I offer a choice.  If you want it to keep snowing then donate 5 bucks to the site and I’ll do another snow dance.  If you’re sick of the snow by now donate 10.00 and I won’t do another snow dance 🙂  You all know how effective my dances are 😉  Actually this is a little to close to almost blackmailing ya’s so maybe I better scratch that plan.

I haven’t posted much this season about Syracuse but trust me I’m still a die hard football and basketball fan of Da’Cuse.  They play tonight against Cal and need to win to move on to the next round so Good Luck Orange!!!  How are all of your brackets doing.  So far one out of my two are in the trash already and the second one is barely hanging in there 🙁

Have a GREAT Weekend Everyone!!!

First off Thanks for the donation Cynthia B.  It’s very much appreciated 🙂

Thanks to Jan also for the info and lnk on Lake Erie 🙂  Here is how Lake Erie is looking http://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/ofs/leofs/now_temp.shtml  Jan metioned that Lake Erie is still mostly in the mid 30s, with a few edges frozen over which the map shows:

Some of you may have noticed that the website was down for a day or so.  Sorry about that and hopefully it’s up for awhile now.  It still may not be up in some parts of the state or country but hopefully by the end of the day everyone can get to it again.  Thanks Barry for the heads up on it also.  I’m just able to get on now and update the snow stats.

While we were down here Rochester made their move.  Not enough to catch Syracuse yet but they slid past Binghamton to move into second place on the snow hill.  WTG Rochester.  Most of the cities are just a storm or two away from taken the lead from Syracuse and now it’s just a matter of which city will step up first.

I think we all know that sooner or later Buffalo will make some kind of move to the top 😉  I think they better make it sooner rather than later before their Lake Effect Machine freezes over with this Arctic cold air around.  Does anyone know how much of the lakes have frozen over yet?

Have an awesome weekend Everyone!

Coming to you live from New York it’s the 2012 – 2013 Golden Snowball snow contest! Hello all, we hope you had an awesome summer. We sure did with plenty of poolside cocktails and soda pops to go with plenty of hot, hot days of sunshine. Now it’s just a memory of the past as the cold weather is upon us with the possibility of another storm coming up the coast.

Normally when I here storm I’m all in but because of the devastation from Hurricane Sandy and so many folks still without power I’m hoping this one passes by those on the East coast. I know I have several family members and friends who were and still are being affected by Hurricane Sandy. Most likely you do too. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of them.

Once again congrats to Rochester, last seasons champion 🙂 Who would have thought that around 60 inches of snow would win the Golden Snowball contest. Not us that’s for sure but they did and you can bet all of the other cities will be out to dethrone them and knock them off from being the king of the snow hill this season.

That’s about it for now but I’m sure it’s only a matter of days, maybe even hours before one of our great cities has snow to report and gets on the snow board. Any thoughts on who this seasons snow champion will be?

Hey, have a fun, safe winter season and remember – See Snow – Drive Slow!

Wow, It’s hard to believe that it’s that time already to set the clocks ahead again isn’t it?  Yup, come tonight before you go to bed or when you wake up tomorrow don’t forget to set the clocks ahead one hour.  Or if you’re like me it normally takes a couple of days before I get around to it.  My clock on the car radio was never changed in the fall so that one is good to go 😉  Don’t forget that the fire departments recommend that you also change the batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors each time you set the clocks.  I still remeber how my Mom use to hate setting the clocks ahead.  She knew she was going to be losing an hour of sleep and for what ever reason she would think about it until the clocks were set back again.

Yesterday was a pretty good snow day and night where I live, just outside of the city.  It cam down pretty good  off and on and last night the winds came through along with the snow and made it look like it was winter.  Unfortunately it doesn’t look like that’s going to last too long with warmer weather in the forecast for the next several days 🙁  This season is going down to the last snowflake that falls and Rochester is still looking pretty good right now.

I have a feeling that it’s going to end up kind of like last nights SU basketball game.  Syracuse was behind pretty much the whole game but started an awesome comeback.  The only problem was they came up just a little short before time ran out.  Well time is running out for Syracuse and the rest of the cities in the Golden Snowball contest and it just may be an upset when the buzzer rings come the last second of April.  Being a big SU fan though, I never give up until the buzzer rings.

Shameless Plug Time – I’ve been getting quite a few sales from my Pets products site the last few weeks since I put it up.  I’m not sure if the prices online are good or not or if it’s because there are a lot of good products like cat and dog food, dog houses, pet products for horses and so on.  Anyways if you have a pet and buy online check it out at Pets Products Online and thanks 🙂

Have a GREAT Weekend All 😉
