First off as always a Big Thanks to John P for your recent donation to the site. I just noticed it and I think it was the first one of the summer. A Big Thanks John, I really Appreciate you taking the time. It helped out a lot during these slow summer months 🙂

Binghamton continues to lead our little rain contest between the Golden Snowball cities so far for 2015. Binghamton on average should be at the top but what I just noticed is last place Albany should be right at the top with them. Both of the cities average rainfall to date is 25.56 inches. It looks like Albany may follow their typical winter snowfall rank and come in last place. I’m sure the good folks in Albany don’t mind too much though.

Binghamton, Rochester and Syracuse New York all continue to be at least a few inches over what their average rain totals should be for this time in the year. Both Buffalo and Albany continue to be below their average rainfall to date with Buffalo only being 0.08 inches below normal. Pretty much a typical summer for those of you in Buffalo unlike the way the snow season started out last year. Below are how all of the cities are doing so far this year compared to an average year.

Binghamton – Plus 5.96
Syracuse – Plus 3.26
Rochester – Plus 4.15
Buffalo – Minus 0.08
Albany – Minus 2.42

Which Golden Snowball City Gets The Most Rainfall

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that the Golden Snowball contest will start keeping track of the total rainfall that the cities get. I’ve always been curious as to how the cities in the Golden Snowball contest stack up when it come to rain. The rain totals posted here for Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse, New York are the yearly totals so far for 2015.

This should be a fun contest because I doubt that Syracuse will be the favorite like they are in the snow contest. Right now Binghamton is at the top of the Puddle with 26.03 inches of rainfall on the year. Albany is in last place, go figure so it looks like Albany will just carry over from the snow race 😉 I really don’t have a clue as to which city is the favorite other than by going by what the average rain to date is. That shows that most of the cities are pretty close to each other so it should be interesting. We all know what one good thunderstorm can drop so I am guessing the rain contest will probably have several lead changes like the snow contest does.

I am also keeping track of which city records the hottest day for the year, 2015. Rochester has bragging rights to having the highest temperature so far for 2015 which is 92 degrees. The high temp contest should be fun also and it’s starting to look like summer is finally making an appearance this week 😉

Any thoughts or as always any suggestions feel free to post them here or get a hold of me through the contact page. This is all new to me so bear with me as I try to get this up and running. You can check out the cities 2015 rainfall totals here!

Have an Awesome Day Everyone 😉
