OK, I normally try to keep the snow site fun after all that’s what it’s all about. Having fun and maybe helping the winter season pass by a little faster. That said what’s going on in the surrounding Buffalo area is I think one of the most serious situations I have seen. With that I am just going to post a couple of comments that were were posted and you won’t hear me say this too often but I do hope the snow stops soon. Here is what Angelo posted in a comment to the site and my reply.
Angelo – “Just wanted to update you guys, official snow fall in my town of Lancaster over last 2 days is 73 inches, south buffalo has about 65 on the ground. Airport is on the border of the heavy snow line but should receive another foot tonight and tomorrow. Lancaster is looking at another 20 plus inches in the same time frame. Maybe we can reach that magic number of 100 inches! In all seriousness this storm has claimed 7 lives so far and has collapsed a number of roofs and with the additional snow and 50 degree temps we will be seeing Sunday through Tuesday Iβm sure we will be seeing even more collapses and major flooding. Wish us luck!”
Me – “Hey Angelo, Wow is still the only word that comes to mind. Itβs cool seeing the numbers, pictures and videos but then again I wish I wasn’t seeing them because I know how serious the situation is there and all around there. Definitely Good Luck to all of you effected and I hope there are no more deaths from this unbelievable snowfall. My thought s and Yes prayers are with all of you. Iβm not looking forward to what we will most likely be reading once the temps start going up. Stay Safe,”
I wish Nothing but the best to our friends in the Buffalo area π

Checking in from South Buffalo! Just over 60 inches here and we are making due! City of good neighbors!!! Luckily I’m on the extreme northern edge of this event and were seeing an awesome effort to dig us out! Unfortunately many in the the suburbs Cheektowaga, West Seneca, Orchard Park, Hamburg, and so on are literally buried alive. Up to 10 storm deaths now and several more people are reported as missing. Without doubt this is the most catastrophic storm to hit Buffalo since 77. People are trapped in there homes, many with out food or basic essentials. A co worker told me is snowbound with no more than a few bottles of water and half a gallon of milk that they are holding back for their young son. Many cannot get to hospital and have died. The snow games are suppose to be fun but this is total devestation in the Buffalo southtowns… Now we are faced with roof cave ins and further destruction. WNY is paralyzed.
Believe me General, I feel for all of you and what you are going through. Normally I am hoping that Buffalo doesn’t get snow so that Syracuse can win. The last few days I have been hoping for the snow to stop to give you guys a break and because I know how serious the situation is there. You’re right, the site normally is about just having some friendly fun but I know there isn’t anything fun about what’s going on there. I can’t imagine what everyone is going through and we both know that the death toll will be going up π Thanks for posting and keeping us updated and STAY SAFE Steve! Let’s hope that for some reason that rain shifts come the end of the weekend and Monday and misses all of you.
Pat
Stay safe, Buffalo (and especially the southern ‘burbs!)
from Albany, where I’m REALLY happy to be right about now…
Up to about 85 inches and snow is creeping back up toward us. Up to 8 deaths now and supposed to keep snowing through early evening. Snow should shift south into the ski resorts around 6pm. That should be the end of it. Estimated around 90 inches here and many other towns by the end of the storm.
