I have sold a website or two in the past but without a doubt selling The Golden Snowball site is the hardest choice I have had to ever make. The Golden Snowball website has been my baby for something like 12-13 (seasons) years now and I have loved every minute of it. Whether it was just updating snow stats, answering emails or comments or doing research for one of you who may have had a question about snow or the snow contest. I REALLY Truly did love every part of being the stats keeper for the Golden Snowball contest and had a blast with all of you ๐Ÿ™‚

For more information or to bid on the snow site click here!

I went back and forth I don’t know how many time as whether to sell the site or not. It comes down to recent developments with a recent move to North Carolina to be with my Grandson and Daughter and having some health problems since I have been here. Nothing major I don’t think and I won’t go into it but the bills are adding up being a self payer when it comes to the doctor bills and well, Enough about that and me ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks to all of you, I was lucky enough where the site took care of itself in the winter between donations and ads that were on the site. This is only one of two of my sites that wasn’t about making money but about having fun which I have had for 12 years now give or take. That’s all because of you who have visited the site over the years. Well over a Million people both snow lovers and haters ๐Ÿ™‚

I am hoping that someone local from one of the cities that are in the snow contest is able to take over the snow site. The website is up for sale at an auction on Flippa and unfortunately I have no control over who purchases the site. The good news in a way (for me anyways) is that if no one comes up with the price I am asking for the site then you will all still be stuck with me. It really will be nice if one of the local news channels or a local weather nut like myself ends up taking over.

The media from most of the cities and even National have been great to me, to the site and to the contest. Syracuse media including The Post Standard, Syracuse.com, CNY and TV 9. The Buffalo and Rochester media. A Big Thanks!

Sean Kirst from the Post-Standard and Syracuse.com stand out big time. I know everyone from Syracuse knows Sean from his award-winning journalism and most likely those of you that are not from Syracuse have read articles about the Golden Snowball Award that Sean has written. I am just a little peon compared to Sean when it came to getting the Golden Snowball contest going again.

Sean being the humble person he is will blow it off but Sean has been my mentor right from the beginning. I always love answering the phone when Sean was ready to write something about the snow contest. Not because of the publicity that the site would get but because I have always enjoyed just shooting the sh&* with him. The Funny thing is that when he calls he always says “Hey Pat, this is Sean”. For those of you that know him, you know he has a deep extinguished voice that can’t be mistaken for anyone else. Just once I wish I said “Oh really, I thought it was Tiny Tim”. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyways when it comes to the Golden Snowball Contest I suggest if anyone buys the site that they hook up with Sean because without a doubt he is the Real Oracle of the contest. The person I always turn to ๐Ÿ˜‰

OK, I’m not sure if the site will sell at the price I am asking for and if it doesn’t I can honestly say I won’t be sad. I’ll be broke, lol ๐Ÿ™‚ but I can live with it. If anyone is interested in taking over the site and I hope, keeping it pretty much like it is you can go to Flippa. com and bid on the Golden Snowball site here.

Cheers,
Patrick

Syracuse has pushed Binghamton a spot down the snow hill to move into the #1 spot for the first time this season. All of the Golden Snowball cities now have measurable snow this season and obviously we have only just begun ๐Ÿ˜‰

It’s close and only 0.3 of an inch separate Syracuse and Binghamton as of the last update from NOAA. I’m out of town right now so unfortunately I missed the first snowfall of the season although I did see a few snowflakes falling here in Clayton, NC this morning. I think I counted about 11 of them ๐Ÿ˜‰

I think this is going to be another fun season and as always any of the cities can win the Golden Snowball trophy which sits just outside of the Mayors office door on a shelf here in Syracuse. OK, I don’t think Albany can win but it’s up for grabs for the other four cities.

Have an Awesome Weekend All ๐Ÿ™‚

I have to wonder if the folks in Buffalo can handle a few more inches of snow this season in order to claim the Golden Snowball Award?ย  As of today there is only 2.1 inches of snowย separating Syracuse and Buffalo.

Time is running out but we are still stuck in this pattern that keeps bring cold air into the cities.ย  A quick blast of snow over Buffalo and they could dethrone last seasons snow champ Syracuse.ย  Do you want it Buffalo or is it enough already?

There has only been a couple of times since the contest was resurrected that it’s been this close at the end of the season and I DON’T like it.ย  It makes it too hard to call the contest come the 1st of May.ย  Several years back I went into negotiations with one of the city reps at the time.ย  They wanted it called April 1st and I said that it was too early to call it because we still get snow.ย  We agreed to May 1st but what happens if a city, let’s say Buffalo gets a few more inches May 5th and goes ahead of Syracuse?ย  Who was really the snowiest city in the contest?ย  Any thoughts?

Have a Great Day All ๐Ÿ™‚

Hey, some good news for you snow haters. In just a couple of hours you can look out the window and say Goodbye to Winter and Hello to Spring. The bad news is that the snow contest lives on for the main fact that we will probably be getting more snow ๐Ÿ˜‰ But wait, there is more good news. The days start getting longer than the nights do now, Wooo Hooo ๐Ÿ˜‰

Syracuse only has less than an 8 inch lead on Buffalo right now so even if we could it would be way too early to call it when it’s this close. Buffalo could slide past Syracuse with one decent storm and I don’t think we are done with the storms just yet. There was one the other day that hit the South but it didn’t come North enough to effect us.

It is the first day of Spring though so we know what is right around the corner. Most likely a long HOT summer and me whining about how hot it is every minute of the day. I’m joking, kind of ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m looking forward to hanging by the pool sipping on a Margarita errr, I mean soda pop and the smell of fresh cut grass…

Have an Awesome Day Everyone!

Rochester added another inch to their totals and I have to admit that it’s not looking good right now for the other GSB cities.ย  Looking at the forecast for the next week or so with the lows still going below freezing it’s still too early to concede not to mention the contest doesn’t end until April 30th at midnight.

When the time does come no doubt the word concede is the perfect word to use.ย  Definition of concede – The word concede to Admit that something is true or valid after first denying or resisting it.

I think reality is setting in for those of us in the Syracuse area.ย  Hope for a strong comeback slowly fading away now with each day that passes by.ย  After nine seasons, the chance of the Golden Snowball trophy staying where it’s been, just outside of the Mayors office on a shelf will soon be heading west.ย  West to Rochester, New York which will be the first time since the resurrection of the golden snowball contest began About 10 years ago.

Although the hope is fading for repeat snow champions Syracuse we’re just not quite ready to concede just yet ๐Ÿ™‚ย  It will be interesting to see how the city of Syracuse presents the trophy to Rochester if they do hold on for the victory.ย  Any thoughts or suggestions to pass along to the Mayors office?

Shameless Plug – I’m still pushing my pet products sites which should have just about anything you may be looking for. Cat and dog food, dog houses, pet meds, toys, leashes and collars, travel cages and more.ย  Feel free to check it out at Pets Supply Stores and thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a Happy Easter All…
