golden snowball contest

Syracuse has finally gotten some winter like weather picking up a few inches of snow in some pretty windy conditions.  This is what CNY is suppose to look like in December.  Buffalo is only reporting half an inch of snow so far and with The Rock showing 1.8 inches Buffalo heads to the bottom of the Golden Snowball hill 🙂

Binghamton was able to add to their totals and also stay ahead of Albany which decided to sit this one out so far.  I think we should call this little blast of snowfall take 2.  Take 1 didn’t go to well so lets see if this gets the snow falling and the lake machines rolling 😉

Syracuse still has a slight chance of breaking the record for the least snowiest December which according to Stephen since the snow has been measured at the airport was in 1994 with 5.9 inches.  I don’t see that happening though for the fact that it is still snowing off and on and looking at the radar it looks like the Lake effect is giving one last shot at trying to get some snow bands going.  More to come tomorrow when all of the snow stats come in.

Have a Super Day All and watch out for some slippery spots on the road!

Buffalo has officially started their snow season now picking up 0.4 inches of snow.  Just enough to slip past Rochester and send them to the bottom of the snow hill.  Right around this time last season we started to get pounded with non stop snow 🙂  Can it happen again?

Check out the snow stats above and you will see the big jump in the snowfall totals for this time last year.  Right now all of the Goldensnowball cities other than Albany are way behind last seasons snow totals.  Cold air has finally moved into the area and with that hopefully the ground will have a nice, fresh blanket of white glimmering in the next couple of days.

The big 3 from New York are way at the bottom of the national snow contest for the 2011 – 2012 snow season.  That started up a few weeks ago and we all will have some catching up to do in that snow contest.  You can check out the Golden Snow Globe contest here.

I’m sure the sledders and ski slopes are hoping the cold sticks around for awhile.  No doubt with the warm November we all had the lakes have to be pretty warm compared to normal.  I can now say that I am ready for a couple of nice lake effect snow events and I’m sure the snow lovers are also.  Bring it On!

See Snow – Drive Slow!  Have a super day all!

This season seems to be following last seasons pattern.  Albany has a pretty good jump for them but the rest of us are right around the same snowfall totals as last year.  That brings up the question of are you looking forward to the snow season or would you rather it stay like it’s been so far?

It’s hard not to enjoy these 50 – 60 degree days going all the way through November isn’t it?  If memory serves me right and normally it doesn’t I think all hell broke out once December started up and kept on going and going and going.  Especially in the Syracuse area.

That said, post a comment  by clicking on the little bubble if you want it to start snowing now or if your content with no snow at all 😉

Hey, Have a Great Week All!

Syracuse is finally on the snow hill for the 2011 – 2012 winter season.  NOAA is showing 6 tenths of an inch for Da Cuse which is just enough to put them into 3rd place.  It’s an early start compared to last season for Syracuse and they have doubled the snow amount that they started off the season last year.

Yesterday they picked up .6 inches of snow compared to last season when they picked up .3 inches of snow exactly one year from today.  So does that mean that Syracuse will be doubling last seasons snow totals?  If I were a Syracusan, Oh yeah I am, I would hope not 🙂  250 something inches is a little (a lot) too much for even myself.  Now it’s Buffalo’s turn.

Buffalo is the only Golden Snowball city  left to post some measuable snowfall.  I’m sure it won’t be too long from now and Buffalo always likes to start up their snowy season with a grand entrance.  I’m hoping that they do 🙂  I’m also hoping that this season all of the snow in the Buffalo area falls right at the airport.  It’s looking like it’s going to be a fun snow contest this season.  It already is just by having Albany in the lead.

Have an Awesome Weekend All and check out the new Christmas Inflatables and Snow Globes out at one of our new sites.!

Who is ready for the snow to start falling? I’ll give a no comment for now anyways 🙂 ZR just posted that Albany is most likely getting ready to start the 2010 – 2011 contest up. I have to be honest I have been avoiding the site in hopes that my fall weather would last/start. It does look like there are a few warm days coming up but I think we all know that we can’t go to much longer without more than just a trace of snow.

I’m still not too happy that goldensnowball.com had to be moved over to blogger so most likely I’ll be changing over to wordpress which is another type of blog so stay tuned to that.

I’m also going to be giving a little space to snow plowers on the site so if that’s what you do in the winter and are in/around any of the cities in the contest then send an email to comments @ goldensnowball . com . Remove the spaces. Include your area that you plow, rates or free estimates, contact info and whatever else as long as it’s not a book 😉

Good Luck to All the Cities and

WILL SOMEONE PLEASE KNOCK SYRACUSE OFF THIS SEASON!!!

I’m still loving how close the golden snowball contest is this season. Just a foot of snow give or take a little separates the top 3 cities. For those of you who follow the contest you know that’s nothing.

Syracuse seems to add a little here and there each day but so does Rochester and Buffalo. I just wish that one of the bigger storms like the one that just hit the coast would start coming farther up north and more to the west so that we can have some fun too.

I did just update the Snowiest city in the US website at goldensnowglobe .com and things are getting really interesting for the national snow contest. Check it out at Golden Snow Globe.

Cheers and have a Great night all!!!
