  1. Hi Danielle,
Sometimes it seems like it takes a bit of luck to find that information. If you go to the NWS office's website (in Syracuse's case that would be Binghamton http://www.nws.noaa.gov/climate/index.php?wfo=bgm ) and click on the Rain/Snow Reports link, that will get you at least in the right direction. Sometimes you need to click on a few earlier versions to find some stats like 6 hour snowfall and such. That also has information from unofficial spotters, so I sometimes find it interesting to see how much difference there is for a given storm.

    Hope that helps!

  2. Major storm possible on Sunday and Monday… Blizzard conditions for Rochester and Buffalo… possibly for Syracuse

  3. I love your site and I tell people about it all the time. I live outside Syracuse, near the airport. I always wonder how much snow we got in a particular period, so I can compare with the prediction – for example, they predicted 4-8 overnight . . . where do I find out how much we got overnight? I've wandered around the NOAA site, but I can't find anything that reports it like that – e.g., 8 inches in the last 8 hours. Do you know where could I find this info?

  4. Anon, I heard something about what’s happening on the west coast a day or two ago may be moving our way with the winds coming from the west instead of the northwest. Most likely I'm wrong and I'm sure someone with more knowledge can answer this for ya πŸ™‚

Thats aid I just got through shoveling in DaCuse and it was coming down at about 2 inches an hour.

  5. Hey Charles and Welcome πŸ™‚

Here is the late night update which I'll post tomorrow

    Syracuse – 9.3 Record 1958
Rochester – 7.4 Just Missed Record
    Bingo – 4.8
    Buffalo – .7
    Albany – Does it Matter

I like your take on Albany :))

  6. I just checked in and the ROCHESTER and Monroe County hazardous weather outlook has a SIGNIFICANT storm moving in this weekend. Anyone else have more info?

  7. As of today at 4 PM we have new snow totals for December 7

    Rochester: 6 inches
    Buffalo: 0.7
Syracuse: 6.2 (as of 5 PM)
Binghamton: 4.5 (as of 10 PM)
Albany: We will leave you alone

  8. Hey Pam and Mike, Unfortunatly I'm the snow blower and I do try to stay fueled, lol. How are the temps there now. I see that cold pressure is reaching wayyy down to the south.

Anon, I'm hoping Rochester and Buffalo come in with some good numbers. I'll most likely post them between 5 – 7.

Anon2, you can find those totals at http://goldensnowglobe.com/ It's nice to see all of the GSB cities in the top 10 this early on πŸ™‚

  9. Just woke up in Rochester, found at least another 6-8 on the ground with another 4-8 predicted today lol. Might not be enough for first, but wow did the lake effect machine crank into gear fast.

  10. The lake effect snow machine is cranked up! Its officially another winter season in Syracuse. Keep the snow blower gas tank full and your winter road package in the trunk. Your 112 inches is on the way – lets hope that number doesn't get there before February 1st, as you don't need your golf season delayed due to spring floods. Post some pictures Patrick! We did get an inch here in Raleigh on Saturday and right on schedule Sunday, the sun came out and melted it all away. Our winter might be over before it even started.
    Stay warm dude.
    Cousins Pam and Mike!
